BISHOP JEROME L. WILLIAMS

Bishop Jerome L. Williams willingly proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ with an unparalleled sense of drive and passion. His innovative spirit and vision influences positive change in people's lives and lifestyles through pure, unadulterated, Biblical teaching and soul-stirring preaching. 

A native of Portsmouth, Williams' ministry is continually growing, as is his impact throughout the United States and the world. As pastor of New Testament Church since 2000, Williams leads one of the most fervent church congregations in Virginia. In the last 18 years, the 49-year-old church has grown from approximately 75 disciples to over 2900, and currently offers more than 40 ministries that emancipate the oppressed, equip the masses and exalt Jesus Christ. With the world crying out like never before for a word from God, Bishop Williams ministers with a fresh prophetic insight that is helping to prepare the church for the days ahead. He is a Holy Ghost-inspired, on-fire servant of the Lord. Guided by the motto: "Changing Hearts by Keeping It Real," Williams founded Changing Hearts International Ministries (CHIM) in 2003, along with another one of his organizations called “JLW Ministries.” CHIM has birthed spiritual sons and daughters who serve as pastors and leaders in various ministries. The organization also includes a television broadcast, which reaches thousands each week. 

Being a man of action, Williams has obtained a number of awards and accolades for outstanding services in the community. Bishop Williams, is one the Vice Presider of Metropolitan and Provincial Operations GUF (Global United Fellowship of Bishop Neal C. Ellis,) Bishop Williams, serves on the MLK Martin Luther King Stern Committee he service as the Vice President and Board of the Hampton Roads Commerce, the Hampton Roads Ecumenical Council of Bishops,  he is a member and leader of the NAACP, and a correspondent for the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for the NAACP organization,  Not only is he a man of action, but a man of honor with a numbers of awards, Bishop Williams was awarded by the former Mayor Kenny Wright of Portsmouth, ‘Pastor of the Year' in the religion category in the community  "Bishop Day" every July 27. 


Bishop has received his Bachelor’s of Religious Education, at the school of Smith Chapel Bible University, along with earning his Masters of Ministry at Richmond Virginia Seminary. Bishop Jerome L. Williams graduated from University of Lynchburg this May 2018 with his D. Min. Degree at Virginia University of Lynchburg, Va. He is also an active member of the Leonard N. Smith Fellows at Virginia University of Lynchburg.

He is a dedicated husband of Elder Shajuan Williams and devoted father of one son Jerrod Lee Williams. A proud grandfather of granddaughter Journi Williams and grandson Jenesis Williams.


Bishop Williams is committed to the Great Commission (Matt 28:19) and is a mighty force for the Kingdom of God throughout the world-crossing cultural, generational and denominational barriers with the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.
